Renewal of Hubli’s Sweet Waters. The Rayanal Lake Story – Part 1

Located in the South-Western suburbs of Hubli, Rayanal Lake serves as an important source of water for the nearby areas. With its bright red clay soil, Rayanal lake looks like it belongs to the planet Mars!

But over time, this large lake was neglected and abused and was soon filled with garbage and invasive plants.

A collaborative conservation effort between the Hubli Dharwad Municipal Corporation- Department of Irrigation, IndusInd Bank part of the Hinduja Foundation under the Jal Jeevan program and E.F.I took on this restoration.

During the restoration, over 14 tons of garbage was removed, invasive weeds cleared, sectorial desilting which facilitated the strengthening of the embankments on the outer circumference in just 70 days!

The lake will now be fenced to protect the lake from further human intervention! We thank all those who strengthened our efforts in restoring this water body.
