Madambakkam Eco Park : A Blue-Green Sanctuary in the Heart of the City | #BlueGreenChennai

The E.F.I.-restored Madambakkam Eco Park is located in Madambakkam, a neighborhood in the southern part of Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The park encompasses an area of 91985 sqm and has an average elevation of 29 meters above sea level. This region experiences a tropical wet and dry climate, characteristic of Chennai, featuring hot summers, a monsoon season, and mild winters.

E.F.I., in collaboration with the GCC and NTT Data, is developing a one-of-a-kind eco-park in the heart of Chennai. Nestled within the rapidly urbanizing Madambakkam region, this large government-owned land parcel is being transformed into a vibrant BlueGreen landscape that enhances urban green cover, supports biodiversity, and improve groundwater.

Emerging as a thriving sanctuary for native flora and fauna amidst the surrounding urban sprawl, the Madambakkam Eco Park features well-designed composting lanes, two new ponds, a native tree nursery, a cattle barn, a bamboo grove showcasing over 30 species of bamboo, and a flourishing Miyawaki forest. Together, these elements create a living ecological hub that demonstrates how nature-based solutions can restore urban ecosystems while offering valuable green spaces for people and wildlife alike.
