Today, as Chennai marks its 387th anniversary, we celebrate more than a city shaped by time. We celebrate a landscape of lakes, wetlands, forests, beaches and biodiversity that has grown alongside its people. From its historic waterways to its urban green spaces, Chennai’s natural ecosystems have always been an integral part of its identity. Looking ahead, restoring and protecting these blue and green spaces is key to building a healthier, more resilient and sustainable Chennai for generations to come.
