Rathinamangalam lake located on the arterial Vandalur-Kelambakkam road has witnessed drastic changes to a once farmer centric neighborhood now booming with real estate development and economic activity. The lake and its water stood still as everything else around turned upside down. Dumping of trash and debris, overgrowth of invasive plants, shallow water holding area, weak embankment were common challenges that we had to address part of the restoration. Over 78 days work extended to clean up, deepen, fence and re-establish Rathinamangalam into a habitat. Witness the restoration journey here:
