The Hinduja Foundation – E.F.I Collaboration in restoring Devakottai’s Kalkulam Kudineer Oorani.

Located in southern Tamil Nadu, where rainfall is scarce and water conservation is of utmost importance, the Kalkulam Kudineer Oorani in Devakottai serves as a vital drinking water source for the local village. However, due to years of neglect and lack of proper maintenance, the pond became overrun with invasive weeds, choked with excess silt, and suffered from soil erosion that weakened its embankments transforming it into a forgotten water body.

A collaborative conservation effort between the Government of Tamil Nadu, Hinduja Foundation under the Jal Jeevan initiative and E.F.I sought to restore this pond back to its natural glory!

Take a look at all that happened during this restoration! #BlueGreenSivagangai
