Environmentalist Foundation International – Sri Lanka : Revive Restore ReLanka

Environmentalist Foundation of India has steadily grown from a grassroots initiative into a global force for nature through our international chapter “Environmentalist Foundation International” taking our environmental conservation mission beyond India’s borders.

E.F.I. Sri Lanka’s journey began in 2017, when we arrived at the Pearl of the Indian Ocean, Sri Lanka. At the Colombo Terminus Station, we conducted the first Plan-It for Our Planet workshop, a hands-on, self-driven session where citizens learned how human actions contribute to environmental pollution and its long-term consequences.

In 2023, a collaboration with the Goethe-Institut Sri Lanka took us to multiple cities and towns across Sri Lanka. Through this partnership, we sensitized over 1,000 students and citizens, helping them understand how our actions affect the environment as a whole. We also organized volunteer-led clean-up activities across beaches and forests, successfully removing over 870 kilograms of garbage from these pristine ecosystems. The collaboration continued in 2024 with the launch of the Environment Masterclass a day-long workshop designed to identify and empower young student leaders. The program focused on leadership, decision-making, resource management, and storytelling, all rooted in the theme of conserving Sri Lanka’s natural heritage.

Sri Lanka is not just a tourist destination. It is an ecologically rich landscape,
home to unique water conservation practices like cascading water systems,
diverse rivers, and extraordinary biodiversity in its flora and fauna.

Let’s ReLanka.
