Bluegreening Karnataka: One Lake at a Time

Karnataka’s immense economic growth, particularly in its capital Bangalore, has strained its water resources. The city’s transformation into the “Silicon Valley of India” has led to rapid urbanization and development, resulting in the depletion of lakes and other water bodies.

Over the recent years, Karnataka has experienced a stark contrast in climate conditions, alternating between periods of extreme floods and severe water scarcity. #Abnormal is the New Normal and we at E.F.I call it अबNormal.

Economic development often comes at the expense of the natural world and it is high time that we take action to change this abnormal situation. At Environmentalist Foundation of India, we have been striving hard to restore Karnataka’s water resources as we #CareforKere.

Our focus has been on revitalizing water bodies in Bangalore Rural, Tumkur, and Ramanagara. Till date, we’ve restored nine lakes and ponds. Check out these inspiring photo stories.
