E.F.I’s Kovai Kalam Vanam #BlueGreenCoimbatore

Located within the rapidly urbanising landscape of Coimbatore, this land parcel was once a water body that gradually fell into severe neglect. Over the years, it became a dumping ground for garbage, construction debris, and other waste, was completely overrun by invasive weeds, and was misused for various anti-social activities.

Today, with the support of the Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation and Hexaware, this once-degraded landscape is being transformed into a thriving urban forest. Envisioned as Coimbatore’s first Hydro-Arbo Complex, the project integrates ecological restoration with urban greening, reviving the site’s natural character while creating a resilient green space that enhances biodiversity, improves environmental health, and serves as a valuable community asset for generations to come.

Hear directly from the residents of Kalapatti as they share how the restoration transformed their neighbourhood, improved their quality of life, and revived a once-neglected landscape into a thriving ecological space.
