756 football field equivalent – 1000 acres of Wetland restoration.

E.F.I ‘s restoration efforts in Tiruvallur with Caterpillar India aim to be extensive and impactful, particularly through the revival of six lakes in the western suburbs of Chennai. Previously plagued by invasive weeds and choked with silt deposition, these lakes are undergoing a much-needed transformation.

The restoration does not merely focus on the natural beauty of these lakes, it has larger goals of enhancing their ecological & hydrological functions, reviving these habitats for various species, and supporting the biodiversity of the Tiruvallur district.

  • Alamathi Lake
  • Vellanur PeriyaEri
  • Pandeswaram Lake
  • Melnallathur Lake
  • Nungambakkam Periyaeri
  • Nungambakkam Kadaperi

The restoration efforts have resulted in more than 1000 acres of lake area revitalizing into thriving ecosystems.

Once these water bodies faced degradation and ecological imbalance with invasive weeds, excess silt deposition, garbage, encroachments, etc., they became a significant ecosystem.
