A hidden paradise, the Kumizhi lake is located on the outskirts of Chennai. The large lake offers a picturesque view with a hill and forest on one side, and birds flocking across the lake itself. Naturally, the lake had become a perfect getaway from the bustling city, to embrace nature.
Over the years, however, owing to no maintenance, the lake had fallen prey to solid waste and invasive weeds. Excess silt deposits were found at large across the lake, impacting its water holding capacity.
In a collaborative conservation effort between the Government of Tamil Nadu, Ford Motors India, and E.F.I, the Kumizhi Lake was taken up for restoration. Check it out!
Take a look at what the residents had to say about this restoration!
We thank all those who strengthened our efforts in restoring the Kumizhi Lake!
