E.F.I’s World Environment Day celebrations were our way to connect back with nature. We organised lake clean ups in three cities on the 3rd and 4th of June, 2017. Each clean up saw more than 30 volunteers from the city who participated and cleaned up lakes. On the June 3rd, we also organised a Nature Walk in Coimbatore with Mr.Arun Krishnamurthy who explained to the participants about the theme for this world environment day and managed to answer questions as well. On the 4th, we planted native species along the banks of the Kumaraswamy Lake followed by a clean up. In Tiruneveli, on the 5th of June we organised a voluntary pond clean up at Nainaar kulam. About 35 people including kids participated in this clean up. They also wrote slogans and had a cultural event to spread awareness. In chennai, we volunteered to clean the Nanmangalam, Thriuneermalai, Mudichur Seerana Eri and the Karasangal Lake. Chennai saw 25 volunteers for each of these lake.
E.F.I thanks all it’s volunteer coordinators who strength our efforts. E.F.I thanks all the volunteers who participated for their time and effort towards environmental conservation. E.F.I thanks all the district administrations for their perennial support for all our projects.
