E.F.I Completes Phase-1 Restoration at Selvachintamani Kulam

Located in the heart of the city, Selvachinthamani Kulam is interconnected to the Ukaddam Lake has seen more than 200 volunteers in the last three years as part of it’s restoration project.The inlet and outlet should be cleaned in order to get clean water as well as for the ground water to be recharged. The first phase of restoration included removal of non-degradable wastes in and around the lake vicinity. Following which, mechanical restoration began using machines. From a dump yard to a beautiful lake, this piece of land has lots of stories to tell.

Advantages of a clean pond include:

  1. Temperature regulation
  2. Ground water percolation
  3. Prevention of waterborne diseases
  4. Localized climate change combat

E.F.I’s restoration efforts. Phase -1 restoration began in 2013. Now, Phase-2 restoration will begin from June 2017.
