Preserving Coimbatore’s green cover is crucial to regulate the city’s climate, maintain air quality and support biodiversity. As Coimbatore continues to urbanize, the rise in concrete structures has contributed to higher temperatures, making the city warmer than its surrounding rural areas. 

The green spaces established by EFI’s Kovai Vanam mitigate and manage the rising temperatures by providing shade, enhancing evaporation and transpiration that cools the environment and reduces the impact of the Urban Heat Island Effect.

In addition to the ecological benefits, Kovai Vanam offers a safe place for wildlife. Native flora and fauna such as birds, insects and amphibians thrive in these green areas, ensuring that local species are able to survive and flourish in their natural habitats.
