The Konneri Tank – Eco Park at UNESCO world heritage site

Mamallapuram or Mahabalipuram is a UNESCO world heritage site, a century’s old town known for it Pallava sculptures and architecture. This Shore temple town located not very far from Chennai is also home to several fresh water bodies.

The Konneri tank located in Mahabalipuram right behind the Krishna’s butter ball complex is a historical pond steeped in the legacies of pallavas and cholas, lay forgotten for years until we restored back in 2019 by strengthened its bunds and increased storage capacity with deweeding and protective fencing.

Today, Recognizing the pond’s potential as a bacon of heritage and ecology, A Collaborative conservation efforts where the government, E.F.I and the public are coming together to set up a Eco-Park with conservation and Mahabalipuram’s UNESCO heritage in mind, this initiative embodies a harmonious blend of history and environment.
