REVAMPING KANCHIPURAM’S WATER BODIES: Karanipet Lake

Located Southwest of Chennai, Kanchipuram is often considered the cultural capital of South India. The region blessed with an abundant supply of natural resources, soon found them losing their lives to the wrath of urbanisation and modernisation.

The Karanipet Lake in the Vallam village is one such water body. Part of a larger water system, the lake was left with little to no care being carried out in it. In an effort to revive this large urban lake, a collaborative restoration effort was carried out by the Government of Tamil Nadu, CAMS, and E.F.I. Take a look at all that happened during this restoration!

E.F.I thanks our partners, local residents and well-wishers for strengthening our efforts!
