Northern Chennai for years now is well known for the industries that one can spot in every direction they go. Something similar in those accords is the lakes and ponds of the region that can also be spotted in every direction! Not receiving the spotlight they deserve, the water bodies of the region are found to be forgotten and neglected.
The Ariyalur Lake is one such water body in the Vichoor village in Northern Chennai. With no proper maintenance carried out, the lake fell prey to the rampant growth of invasive weeds and excess silt deposits, making it unfit to host any life.
Under a collaborative conservation effort between the Greater Chennai Corporation, Gulf Oil India, Hinduja Foundation, under the Jal Jeevan initiative, and E.F.I, the Ariyalur Lake was taken up for restoration! Take a look at all that happened during this restoration!

We thank all those who supported us in restoring the Ariyalur Lake.
I don’t live in Chennai any longer, so I can’t join the clean-up efforts. However, I would like to contribute financially to your efforts – how can I do this?
