The Pond in Chennai’s Industrial Belt – Kosapur Pond

Situated in the city’s northern neighborhood, the Kosapur Village is known to be surrounded and filled with industries and manufacturing units. Located on the Kosasthalaiyar Basin, the region is naturally blessed with several water bodies and green spaces. Numerous birds can be seen flocking their way to these natural hotspots throughout the year.

But as the city grew, there grew a higher demand of establishing industries, thereby putting water bodies and green patches in the region on the backseat. Lakes and ponds began to shrink or built over, and excessive dumping of garbage and construction debris soon filled water bodies in the neighborhood.

The Kosapur Pond is one such a water body. Neglected for years, the soon was taken over invasive weeds, and solid waste. In an effort to revive this water body, E.F.I with support from the Greater Chennai Corporation under the Nammaku Naame Thittam and Godrej & Boyce Mfg. Pvt. Ltd took on the task of restoring the Kosapur Pond. Take a look at all that happened during this restoration.
