Velachery is a busy southern neighborhood in Chennai. The transformation of Velachery from a marsh to a megalopolis look alike is 2 decades old. In this process of urban transformation, Velachery has also lost a few of its water bodies. In an effort to protect what is left, E.F.I has been working on reviving the Mandapam Kuttai.

The pond underwent a restoration effort from Mid-July through August of 2019 and is now all ready for the upcoming North East Monsoons. Mandapam Kuttai depicts resilience and also the fact that when nature is given a chance, she bounces back in style. The story of revival in photos below.
