Vannan Eri with a Vanam on its foreshore is bustling with activity every week. Students from institutions along OMR are taking pride in the restoration and are now extending a sustainability arm to it by volunteering every week.
Vannan Eri was restored by E.F.I in 2022. During this restoration 3 acres of encroached government land was retrieved. What to do with this retrieved land before it falls prey to land sharks? Lets put some trees in there, would a few trees keep the sharks away? Why just a few, lets put so many that it becomes a vanam. Vannan Eri and Vanam at Kelambakkam.

Every week we invite and engage volunteers to strengthen our efforts in nurturing the 7500 saplings that we have planted around the restored Vannan Eri. If you are an institution somewhere near Kelambakkam or anywhere in Chennai and would like to spend their weekend volunteering at this forest, reach us at arun@indiaenvironment.org or raji@indiaenvironment.org.
