Nature Warriors in the Making: E.F.I’s I.E.MC in Coimbatore

With an attendance of 202 energetic young champions the Kovai Edition of India Environment Masterclass took place at Saravanampatti, Coimbatore. The session started at 9 am with registration. Team E.F.I was ready with energy and enthusiasm for the session. The session started with an introduction about what I.E.MC is in which the video of Alappuzha I.E.MC was played. The students were asked to do the self-realisation thought a set of hints provided and were asked to catch the groups with the people who agreed to the hints. 

Group Discussion on Leadership and Decision making session. Students gathered around to discuss the case provided to provide ideas in the group. The mix of students from both college and school welcomed and listened each other to collaborate for conclusion
Delivering the solution for the case. Ideas of each group were put forward to the people. The idea of situational leadership and logical decision making were the examples delivered as ideas

Situational Leadership was the motive that was put forward for the students to think about after the leadership game. The environment of Coimbatore and Situational Leadership as the model to volunteer and act for the reduction of many pollutants was advised by the session.  Afforestation sites and the lakes and ponds of Coimbatore were targeted to volunteer through situational Leadership through the session. 

The Selva Chinthamani Kullam, Periyakuttai, Annur Pond as the water bodies and Plantation in Soubhagya Nagar, Indira Nagar, Reliance Garden needed consideration in volunteering for the prevention from harmful substances. Students enthusiastically raised hands to step up for volunteering 

During the second session after lunch the students were taught to use their talents to do a street act for an environmental cause. The students were given the theme of Coimbatore’s Environment and causes which harm them. Different ideas put forward was a great show to watch the street act. 

Street Play

Students engaging in Street Act, using their talents to deliver awareness in the form of an act. Each act had environment conservation and awareness theme, which they beautifully presented with the help of songs, action and a message at the end

Block or Tackle

The new gamification method introduced in I.E.MC, where the students are given a topic in which one group has to Tackle while the other has to Defend at the same time. This game provided awareness to students of how hard it is to deliver messages in a noisy environment. The game also boosted the students’ debating capacity.
