Owing to the vehement rains brought in by the 2020 Monsoons and Cyclone Nivar, lakes and ponds of India have completely filled up!

Madhanakuppam Pond, Ambattur

Madhanakuppam pond was revived in a matter of 60 days! Locked in an abandoned roadways project site, was this exploited water body. Through dedicated efforts, the pond is now back to life. 

Restored by E.F.I with support from HDB Financial Services Ltd. and GCC. The monsoons filling lakes and ponds is the most rewarding.

Uzhavarkeni Pond, Karapakkam

An urban pond that was hidden from the outer world, had over the years started to lose its life to sewage inflow and invasive weeds. Today, the Uzhavarkeni Pond has completely filled up thanks to the 2020 Monsoons!

This pond was restored by administrative support from GCC and funding support from HDB Financial Services Ltd.

Nehru Nagar Pond, Thoraipakkam

Nehru Nagar pond located on OMR was dumped with construction debris. The pond was cleaned of the dumped trash, debris and its bunds strengthened. Today, thanks to the monsoons, the pond is brimming with water and thriving with life

RG Pond, Semmancheri

R.G. Pond located in Semmancheri, Chennai is a beautiful neighbourhood pond, that was used to store rainwater and quench the area’s thirst.  But over the years, the pond’s life had majorly deteriorated as the pond had been dumped with solid and liquid waste.

E.F.I in association with the Greater Chennai Corporation (G.C.C) and Hexaware Technologies took on the restoration of the R.G. Pond.

Kannagi Nagar Lake, Okkiyam Thuraipakkam

The Kannagi Nagar Lake is located adjacent to the OMR in Okkiyam Thuraipakkam. Owing to the heavy rains from the monsoons, the lake today is completely full. The waterbody is once again becoming the identity of the locality!

HCL Foundation-E.F.I in association with the Greater Chennai Corporation took on the task of reviving the Kannagi Nagar Lake.

Selliamman Pond, Ambattur

The Selliamman pond is located at Ambattur in the North Western part of Chennai City. E.F.I took on the task of cleaning and reviving this water body with support from Rotary Club of Meraki, and the Greater Chennai Corporation.

The monsoon showers has today left the pond completely full, with several life forms rejoicing in it!

Oma Kulam-2

The Oma Kulam-2 in Chennai reached full capacity thanks to the heavy rains from the 2020 Monsoons!

E.F.I in association with the Greater Chennai Corporation (G.C.C) and Shri. Rishad Bahadurji took on the restoration of the pond.

Thangal Eri Canal, Ambattur

The Thangal Eri Canal located in Ambattur is a massive water body, and supports several life forms such as migratory and local birds, amphibians and reptiles. Thanks to the monsoon rains, the canal had become completely filled!

This canal was restored with administrative support from GCC and funding support from NTT Data

Thandukarai Pond, Pallikaranai

The Thandukarai pond is located just a few miles from the Chennai’s only surviving wetland ecosystem, the Pallikaranai Marshland. With its bund strengthened, garbage, and weed removed, and civil structure repair works completed, the pond was completely filled during the 2020 Monsoons!

E.F.I in association with GCC and Ford Motors restored this pond.

Veppanthangal Lake, Alapakkam

The Veppanthangal Lake in Alapakkam, before restoration, was a lake that was completely neglected, and filled with garbage and invasive weeds. In association with the Government of Tamil Nadu and TAKE Solutions, E.F.I had restored this lake, and had revived it back to its natural state.

Completely filled with water today, the lake is now a ecological hotspot!
