Lakes and Ponds of India are FULL! – Part 1

When the rain gods blessed our lakes and ponds. Cyclone Nivar had lashed us with heavy rains, and our lakes & ponds seemed to be filled up with joy!

Anaikeni Pond, Sholinganallur

A pond that was filled with sewage, covered with invasive weeds and completely hidden from the outside world is now shimmering with water from the monsoon.

  • The jute lining on the bund which prevents erosion
  • The intermediary plantation
  • The outer fencing

Restored by E.F.I with support from Grundfos and GCC. The monsoons filling lakes and ponds is the most rewarding.

Samiyar Pond, Nedunkundram

A pond that was once filled with water suitable for drinking, had over the years filled with invasive weed species. Take a look at the Samiyar Pond in Nedunkundram, recently restored by Environmentalist Foundation of India!

Watch what the residents had to say about this #EcoRestoration!

Nagachery Kulam, Chidambaram

The Nagachery Kulam is reaching full capacity after 17 LONG years!

We thank the Chidambaram Sub Col. Thiru L. Madhu Balan IAS for the administrative support and IndusInd Bank part of the Hinduja Foundation for funding this restoration

Omakulam, Chidambaram

An ancient pond, Omakulam in Chidambaram is now full! Thank you CDM Sub Collector, Thiru. L. Madhu Balan IAS and Chidambaram Municipality for supporting this restoration.

Madambakkam Lake, South Chennai

History unfolds yet again. Ancestors left us with this beauty-bounty of a lake. Several of you gave countless hours to volunteer. The covid summer gave us the opportunity to work on its scientific restoration.

Today we proudly present to you the Madambakkam Lake fast filling.

VC: Thiru. Masanamuthu

We thank all the residents and the volunteers who supported us!
