In the harsh summer of 2019, E.F.I took on the task of restoring the Kinhi-Gadegaon reservoir located near Bhandara, Vidharbha region of Maharashtra.

Supported under the Jal Jeevan initiative of the Hinduja Foundation by Ashok Leyland, the entire restoration was completed in a 3 months period.

A unique water body with wildlife reserve on one side and villages on the other, this water body serves several life forms. From changing the storage dynamics, to regulating inflow streams and creating subset ponds within the reservoir, several techniques have gone into increasing storage capacity of the reservoir.

Highlights:
1. The bund which now is called the Great Wall of Bhandara
2. The regulated forest streams
3. The shallow foreshore for wild animals to access water body
4. The deepest center diagonals which ensure spill over towards the outflow is reduced by nearly half.
