OMR Pond in Chennai back to its original glory

As the Old Mahabalipuram and its surrounding neighborhoods were fast turning into a new urban landmass, several water bodies shrunk and a few vanished. The Thazhambur Keni is one of the rare few left behind. As the race to economic prosperity took all our attention elsewhere, the pond went into a state of neglect. However, over time as Chennai realized the importance and urgent need to revive her water bodies, the Thazhambur Keni got a fresh leash of life.

E.F.I is proud to present the restoration story of the Thazhambur Keni.

E.F.I thanks the Kanchipuram District Management for the administration support. The Ford India team in Chennai for funding the restoration and the residents of the neighborhood for voluntarily strengthening the efforts.

Volunteer for India & her Environment with E.F.I, Jai Hind.
