Pennalur is a suburban village a little outside of Chennai, near Sriperumbudur. A village with several waterbodies and an Adyar river feeder. Several of the village ponds were completely neglected becoming an open sewer and toilet.
EFI initiated a Pond Restoration effort in the village to adopt and voluntarily clean up-revive 5 of the ponds in the village. 4 ponds have been scientifically restored through effective community participation in the last one month. Pennalur and her ponds now are awaiting the NE Monsoon showers to fill up. Admin support by Kancheepuram district collectorate, project machine support by The Hindu “Shreyas.”

சென்னையின் அருகாமையில் உள்ள அழகிய சிறிய கிராமம் தான் பென்னலூர். இவ்வூரில் பல நீர் நிலைகள் உண்டு. வளரும் நகரம் மற்றும் மாறும் காலத்தினால் இந்த நீர் ஆதாரங்கள் அழிந்து வருகின்றன.
பென்னலூரில் உள்ள 4 குளங்களை EFI கடந்த ஒரு மாத காளிதில் அறிவியல் பூர்வமான புனரமைப்பு செய்த்துள்ளது. மாவட்ட நிர்வாகத்தின் அனுமதி பெற்று, உள்ளூர் வாசிகளின் ஈடுபாடுடன், தி ஹிந்து குழுமத்தின் ஷ்ரேயஸ் திட்டம் மூலம் உதவி பெற்று இந்த குளம் தூர் வாரும் பணி நடைபெற்றது.
எதிர்கால நீர் பற்றாக்குறை போக்க, வெப்பநிலை மாற்றம் தடுக்க, வெள்ளம் போன்ற அசம்பாவிதங்களை தடுக்க, மாசுபடாமல் சுத்தமான குளம் மூலம் நோய் தடுக்க, பல்லுயிர் பெருக்கத்துக்கு வழிவகுத்திட இந்த குளங்களை EFI புனரமைத்துள்ளது.

while restoring lakes please ensure that we are not removing any palm trees and Palmyra trees on the pond / lake bund.
Please ensure that all the Prosopis juliflora (Karuvelam maram) bushes are removed, these drink all the water dry and are invasive in nature.
Please initiate towards ban of plastics in Tamilnadu.
